Rockets Acquire Lou Williams

Just hours after being hired as the Lakers’ President of Basketball Operations, Magic Johnson has made his first move.

The Houston Rockets have acquired combo guard Lou Williams from the Lakers in exchange for Corey Brewer and a first round draft pick, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.

The Rockets were able to beat out the Charlotte Hornets, who had also been aggressively pursuing Williams earlier today.

Lou Williams can be considered one of the most underrated scorers in the NBA and will be a nice addition to the Rockets backcourt. Williams is averaging 18.6 points (45% FG, 39% 3Pt, 88% FT), 3.2 assists, 2.3 rebounds, and 2.1 three-pointers in just 24.2 minutes per game off the bench. While he will mainly be a scoring boost off the Rockets bench, his veteran presence will be a great attribute for Houston.

Corey Brewer has played sparingly this season for the Rockets, averaging just under 16 minutes per contest. A change of scenery will hopefully revive the ten-year veteran’s NBA career. The Lakers will receive a future 1st round draft pick along with Brewer.
