NFL Week 6 – Packers Look to Build Momentum vs. Murray

The Packers’ 24-19 win at So-Fi last Sunday was their first time winning in L.A. against the Rams since 1966.

It was a long-awaited win, but an ugly one. The Rams have one of the worst defenses in the league. Their defense ranks 29th, giving up 372 yards per game, and opponent offenses have already racked up 139 points on this defensive unit.

Green Bay faithful was expecting a sizable win against this team and a more accurate performance from Jordan Love who went 15/26 with 2 TD’s and a pick. I think we’re all hoping the pregame Brett Favre jersey “curse” isn’t going to stay with him. Between the first pick-6 of his career and getting bailed out by Jayden Reed on that ridiculous 1st-quarter grab, Love has looked awfully similar to the “Gunslinger” since coming back from injury.

A win is a win though, and this one was much needed for Green Bay.

J. Love and company look to build off of this win, back at Lambeau against another former border battle team, the Arizona Cardinals. Going way back, the Arizona Cardinals were the Racine(Wisconsin) Cardinals/Normals through the 1910s. They were also a longer tenant down in Comiskey Park dating from 1922 as the Chicago Cardinals.

Kraft YAC and Cheese

If you had to guess which tight end leads the league in Yards After Catch, you’d probably expect Travis Kelce or George Kittle.

Well, I’m here to tell you you’re wrong because it’s Tucker Kraft! Kraft has 186 yards after the catch on just 16 receptions. In those 16 receptions, he is also first among tight ends in the league in average yards per catch at 13.6(27th among all receivers).

In other words, he is making the absolute most out of all his opportunities. Kraft has looked like the TE1 this season, and with Luke Musgrave headed to IR, that role is his to lose.

Can the defense string together another solid performance?

Yes, we are in a new era of Packers defense and the success is in large part due to Xavier McKinney.

McKinney has five straight games with an interception to start the season. FIVE. If I were a successful gambler, I would tell you to find a prop bet and place your money on him to have his sixth this week.

Last season, the Packers had seven interceptions total. Five weeks into the season, they have 9 INTs and 5 fumble recoveries, good  for 14 turnovers total.

We saw a bright spot with Evan Williams at Safety, as he was involved with the 4th down stop last Sunday. The rookie-sophomore tandem of Edgerin Cooper and Karl Brooks also showed out with a pair of sacks. Packers fans are not used to a defense giving up 13 points, a trend that all of Packer Nation hopes continues.

They’ll go up against a Kyler Murray-led squad that has had a roller coaster of a season thus far. We’ve seen them get hot and put up 34 against the Rams, and we’ve seen them go cold and put up 14 against the Commanders. The Cardinals are in desperate need of a win at 2-3

No Luck in Green Bay for the Cardinals

The last time the Cardinals traveled to Green Bay was 2018, where they were victorious in a 20-17 win (their first win at Lambeau).

Before that, the Arizona Cardinals had never won in Green Bay, nor did the St Louis Cardinals. Yes, you read that correctly. You’d have to go back all the way to 1947, where they won in City Stadium 14-10, as the Chicago Cardinals.

The Packers lead the all-time series against the Cardinals 46-26-4 and look to prevent AZ from starting a winning streak in Lambeau.
