Predicting the Rest of the NY Giants’ Regular Season

A Giant Road to the Finish Line

The New York Giants came into the season with expectations all over the place.

They recently got rid of their superstar running back Saquon Barkley to one of their biggest rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles. On the bright side, fans and the team alike were ecstatic over the hopes for the #6 overall pick in this year’s draft, WR Malik Nabers. Put that together with some acquisitions on defense (DE Brian Burns from the Panthers), and a big year for the contract of Daniel Jones, and the Giants fans were full of hope. But, as we all know by now, that was not the case.

The Giants are bad, sitting at 2-8 overall. The recent loss in Munich to the then-one-win Panthers further solidified the Giants’ standing as one of the worst teams in the league.

So, since the Giants won’t be prepping for a potential playoff run, they can choose to look at where they will end up in the draft and how they will finish out the season. Let’s look at the remaining games for the G-Men, and see how close they can get to that number one overall pick.

Week 11: Bye

Thankfully for the Giants, after the grueling trip that resulted in a bad loss to Carolina, the team definitely needed some much-needed rest & relaxation.

In the off-week, when asked if the Giants should’ve handled anything differently with their QB throughout the season, GM Joe Schoen stood by his QB.

Week 12: Home vs Buccaneers (11/24; 1:00 PM)

The Bucs’ backfield duo of Rachaad White & Bucky Irving, even without star receivers Mike Evans & Chris Godwin, will be too much for the Giants. The run defense will likely continue to falter, as it did in Germany. They’ll be a little flat after a bye and will be looking ahead to the Thursday matchup on a short week against the Cowboys. The Giants drop this one at home.

Week 13: Away @ Cowboys (11/28; 4:30 PM)

Ah yes, the coveted Cowboys game on Thanksgiving in Jerry’s World.

There’s nothing like getting up to go to the dinner table with memories of Ezekiel Elliot jumping into Salvation Army Buckets. The Giants get the privilege of playing on Thanksgiving this year, and they go up against a massively underperforming Cowboys team.

Star QB Dak Prescott, who signed one of the largest contracts in NFL history this offseason, is out for the season after hamstring surgery. With longtime (and somewhat successful backup) Cooper Rush under center, the Giants will still have their hands full. In a spiral of a year for both teams, I think the Giants can etch out a win by taking advantage of the pure disarray of the Cowboys organization is this year.

Week 14: Home vs Saints (12/8; 1:00 PM)

The New Orleans Saints had higher expectations for this season (seems like we have a common theme coming together), but find themselves tied at the bottom of the NFC South. While 3-7 is not what the Saints are looking for, they have struggled with the injury bug. Both QB Derek Carr and star WR Chris Olave have missed some major time this year.

In addition to Olave not being 100%, Carr is also missing Rasheed Shaheed. With some extra time off after the Thanksgiving game, the Giants will be able to squeeze past the Saints at home. Exepct Malik Nabers to have another great game against a Saints secondary that ranks in the bottom half of the league.

Week 15: Home vs Ravens (12/15; 1:00 PM)

I will keep this one short & sweet.

The Ravens come into this game as one of the best teams in the AFC and in the NFL. Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry are the favorites for MVP & OPOY, respectively.  Second-year stud safety Kyle Hamilton will be a looming threat on defense as the Giants fail to do anything on both sides of the ball. The Ravens win big in Metlife.

Week 16: Away @ Falcons (12/22; 1:00 PM)

The Atlanta Falcons will come into this game leading the division in the NFC South and will be fighting for playoff seeding.

The Falcons are an offensive wagon with stars across the field. You have a star running back in Bijan Robinson, athletic freak tight end in Kyle Pitts, and budding receiver Drake London. This matchup will be too tough for the Giants, who have already been beaten & battered by the Ravens the previous week. They then need to hop on a plane to Atlanta and take on this offense. Yea, no thanks. Giants drop another one, though this time they get to do it in fancy fashion as they play indoors.

Week 17: Home vs Colts (12/29; TBD)

The Indianapolis Colts have had a weird season so far.

For starters, Jonathan Taylor missed a whole lotta time. Then you have the QB conundrum about starting either veteran Joe Flacco or young gun Anthony Richardson. A loss to Buffalo last week showcased the holes in this team, which has been capped off with WR Michael Pittman‘s injury. The Giants will be able to play their own style of game and try to run the ball with Tracy. Giants can eke out a close win, giving the home crowd one more game to cheer about before the upcoming draft.

Week 18: Away @ Eagles (1/5; TBD)

While Giants fans want to see them beat their rivals every time they face off, many could be wishing for a loss against Philly in Week 18.

The season will virtually be over, with lots of playoff positions already locked up. The Eagles will probably know if they will win the division or be the first wild-card team. Either way, Philly presents a nightmare matchup for the Giants. Barkley came back to Metlife on 10/20 and rushed for over 150 yards with a TD. Even with some players being benched, the Eagles want to win this meaningless game as much, or even more, as the Giants do.

At this point of the season, Jalen Hurts could be nearing the first 20/20 (passing & rushing TD) season in NFL history and will have no lack of motivation to achieve this feat on their biggest rivals. Count on one more loss for the G-Men as they close out the 2024-2025 season. Based on these predictions, they would finish with a record of 4-13. Hopefully, this lands them the first or second pick of the upcoming draft. And I think we all know what should happen there…
