Tim Connelly has reaffirmed his commitment to the Minnesota Timberwolves, telling the media he is here to stay.

“It feels like home. … I think you guys are stuck with me,” Connelly said to the media.

Will Anthony Edwards Live Up to Expectations?

Connelly emphasized Anthony Edwards’ value and raised expectations for the young star, noting his impressive accomplishments but making it clear that more is now expected.

Edwards has always been a fearless and competitive athlete. We have seen it firsthand on numerous occasions, particularly this season.

The 23-year-old has shown significant growth this year, with his lovely dunks, shots, and charisma

As the Timberwolves look ahead to next season, the message is clear: it’s NBA Finals or bust.

Connelly’s Future Plans

Connelly is partially satisfied with the current roster but acknowledges that several key players are aging without anyone behind them, making trade opportunities worth exploring.

He also noted that holding the 17th and 31st picks in the upcoming draft gives the Timberwolves added value and potential trade leverage, which is what the team needs to create a stronger foundation.

Make Moves without Rebuilding

Tim Connelly has always been well-known for his ability to build a team. We saw it firsthand with the Denver Nuggets.

However, the question everyone has is what’s next for the Timberwolves? This could be considered one of the Timberwolves’ most important seasons, given the weight of expectations on their shoulders.

Minnesota has many routes they can take this offseason. One of them is acquiring Lonzo Ball. This would be vital for the Timberwolves because of Lonzo’s ability to play both defensively and offensively, facilitating the game as a point guard. A player like Lonzo would relieve pressure off Edwards offensively because Lonzo’s shooting talent from the three-line is exceptional.

Another vital factor to consider is what the Timberwolves are willing to give up. Some key players that make the most sense would be Julius Randle, given the similarity of their contracts. Additionally, Jaden McDaniels makes sense because it would even out cap flexibility and allow for the surrender of the second-round draft picks to persuade Chicago.

However, Chicago needs to play a bigger role in this deal because of how injury-prone Lonzo is, which may not appeal to the Timberwolves as much. On the other hand, draft day is soon, and the Timberwolves should take action. We saw it last year on draft night when Tim Connelly went out for Dillingham. There is great talent in the top 10 right now for this year’s draft picks. He can go out and do the same with Jeremiah Fears and VJ Edgecombe, which could result in Minnesota coming up on top.

However, this would mean trading up in the draft, possibly giving up new players like Dillingham and Shannon Jr., alongside their first-round pick (#17) and Second-round pick(#31). These two players would be crucial on this team, offering substantial depth on the wing. While also having longevity due to both players being so young. Both players would also complement Anthony Edwards well due to their flexibility. For example, Fears can score without dominating the ball, giving Edwards offensive power. He also has a high foul rate, which is a plus, as well as knowing how to rotate defenders to keep the offense flowing. Quite Similar to Edgecombe, he is versatile when it comes to guarding any position, which also gives players like Edwards the ability to thrive offensively.
