NBA commissioner Adam Silver has sent a memo to all 30 NBA franchise owners about resting players. Per the memo, Silver states that it is getting more and more of an issue for the league.

“Decisions of this kind can affect fans and business partners, impact our reputation and damage the perception of our game,” Silver wrote in the memo, which was obtained by The Associated Press. “With so much at stake, it is simply not acceptable for governors to be uninvolved or to defer decision-making authority on these matters to others in their organizations.”

“Please also be reminded that under current league rules teams are required to provide notice to the league office, their opponent and the media immediately upon a determination that a player will not participate in a game due to rest,” Silver wrote. “Failure to abide by these rules will result in significant penalties.”

On Saturday night as the Cleveland Cavaliers took on the Los Angeles Clippers, LeBron James, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Love did not play due to rest. The Warriors also have pulled off a similar one as their four key players did not play while the Warriors were in San Antonio.

Just recently, Charles Barkley has gone as far as to tell fans to boycott the league in order for the fans voices to be heard.

On April 6th, Silver will be meeting with the NBA Board of Governers and plan to discuss this immensely. Safe to say, Silver is finally doing something about this issue.
