Bucks Demolish Wizards on Historic Night

The BMO Harris Bradley Center was rocking Friday night, as the Milwaukee Bucks throttled the Washington Wizards 123-96.

This win got the Bucks back on track, getting back to .500 at 14-14 after dropping their last two games to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

This loss was a surprising one for the Washington Wizards, who had won six out of their last eight prior to last night. The Bucks completely shut down the Wizards backcourt (Wall and Beal), who combined for a mere 28 points.

Washington shot an abysmal 29% (7 of 24) from three-point land. Despite John Wall tallying a double-double (18pts, 10ast), the rest of his team couldn’t get anything going to keep up with Milwaukee’s onslaught.

Giannis Antetokounmpo approached the free throw line in the fourth quarter having already topped his career high in points (previously 34) with 38. Sinking both of these would give him his first career 40 point game as well as the first 40 point game for a Buck since Brandon Jennings dropped 55 back on November 14th, 2009.

He hit the first, but missed the second, finishing with 39 points as he exited the game with a standing ovation from the Milwaukee crowd. He might have been distracted during that second free throw, as the fans yelled very thunderous “M-V-P” chants.

While Giannis’ new career high stole the show, Bucks’ rookie Malcolm Brogdon also set a new career high for himself. Brogdon finished with 17 points and a team-high seven assists.

Up next: Both the Bucks and Wizards get to rest on Christmas Day, but return to action Monday night in DC for the third match-up of the season between these two teams. The series sits at 1-1.
