The Golden State Warriors could possibly put themselves in position to secure a free agency meeting with none other than LeBron James this off season, sources told ESPN’s Chris Haynes.
Haynes reports that if the Warriors are able to clear up MAX space, LeBron would definitely listen.
Clearing space won’t be easy. They have $130 million in salary committed to players for next season, and simply moving out expiring contracts would not be enough.
The Warriors would likely need to do a sign and trade with the Cavaliers around players like Klay Thompson and Andre Iguodala, says ESPN’s Kevin Pelton. On top of Kevin Durant declining his option for next season and signing for less money.
While a partnership may seem out of this world and highly unlikely, the thought of even LeBron James joining the Golden State Warriors has shook the NBA world from coast to coast. Honestly nothing would surprises us anymore in today’s game. So Lebron James joining the Warriors really isn’t out of the question.
