Reports: Pistons Resisting Trades For Johnson

Teams around the league are sensing the Detroit Pistons looking to unload last year’s No. 8 overall pick Stanley Johnson, and are trying to work a deal while his value is extreamly low.

Detroit, though, is reportedly resisting all trade inquiries regarding the 20-year-old wing, according to CSN Chicago’s Vincent Goodwill.

Johnson, along with Henry Ellenson and Michael Gbinije, was sent down to the D-League late last week to join the Grand Rapids Drive after failing to see any meaningful playing time in head coach Stan Van Gundy’s rotation.

In his sophomore season, Johnson hasn’t taken significant strides forward like others from his class. His deficiencies on the offensive end are becoming more and more glaring, as he continues to struggle shooting from range, while not maintaining any effort on defense either.

Van Gundy called him out to the media recently, questioning his effort behind the scenes in becoming a greater talent, including during practices and when the Pistons aren’t playing.
